About Shingles

Protect Yourself from Shingles

Almost 1 out of every 3 people in the United States will develop shingles. About half of all cases occur among men and women age 60 and older.

Shingles is caused by the varicella zoster virus—the same virus that causes chickenpox. After recovering from chickenpox, the virus stays dormant in the body and can reactivate years later.

The only way to reduce the risk of developing shingles is to get vaccinated.

How to Get Vaccinated

  1. Get a prescription from your physician
  2. Check your coverage at Watson’s Drug Store or call to verify if your prescription insurance covers the vaccine
  3. If covered: Get vaccinated at Watson’s Drug Store
  4. If not covered: Come to the Health Department for cash pricing (save ~$20)

📍 Available at:

• Watson’s Drug Store (Insurance & Cash)
• Bond County Health Dept (Cash only, 60+ only)
